HIGH Wycombe are now four games without a win at home in Division One of the Home Counties Premier League after their match against Datchet was abandoned due to rain on Saturday, writes Rob Stevens.
has not won a league game at London Road since the success against Buckingham Town back in June, and the rain-affected draw leaves them in fifth position in the table.
Datchetwon the coin toss and elected to field first, with the home side making 199 runs all out in 55.5 overs.
Number seven George Russell was the leading runs scorer with 50 from 60 balls, including six boundaries and one maximum hit. It is his third half-century of the season and gives him a new average of 28.38 this summer.
Oliver Birts was the pick of the Datchet bowling attack with his figures of 4-57 from 17.5 overs, which includes the wickets of Matthew Gouldstone for a third-ball duck.
Birts was ably supported by Tom Lambert who took the wickets of both opening batsman Edmund Casterton (18) and captain Dan Marles (17) in his 3-21 from 10 overs.
The visitors managed 74-0 in 19 overs thanks to Joe Barrett (47 not out) and captain Steven Naylor (22*) before rain forced the match to be abandoned after 75 overs.
The best of the High Wycombe bowlers was Marles with 0-4 in one over and Adam Dobb 0-8 from three overs.
High Wycombe remain at London Road for the visit of relegation-threatened Horspath this Saturday (11am start).
Datchet lost ground on leaders and defending champions Henley after their winning draw at home to Finchampstead last weekend.
Datchet return to the Wally Gage Memorial Ground for the visit of Banbury this Saturday (11am) now 55 points behind the table-toppers.
