SCOTT Kashket netted the winner as Wycombe Wanderers overcame Brentford B 2-1 in a behind-closed-doors game at the Bees’ training ground on Tuesday.
Sido Jombati and Curtis Thompson made their return from injuries for the Chairboys.
Rolando Aarons made his first appearance in Wycombe colours and won a penalty early on, converted by Josh Parker, before Jonny Mitchell levelled the scores soon after with a glancing header from a corner.
Kashket, who scored twice against Southend in League One 10 days earlier, found the net again in the second period, rounding the keeper and tapping home to secure the win.
The opening goal came about on 13 minutes when Aarons was hauled down in the box by keeper Nathan Sheppard, with Parker beating him from 12 yards, but the Bees equalised within two minutes thanks to Mitchell’s header.
Jamie Mascoll fired narrowly wide from distance and Parker missed the target after excellent play on the edge of the box, while for the hosts, Arthur Read went close and Tom Field was denied by Cameron Yates before the interval.
After the break, Alex Samuel had a goal disallowed and Alex Pattison hit the post at the end of a darting run, while Wanderers’ trialist defender headed over from Nick Freeman’s cross before Kashket made it 2-1 on 71 minutes.
Mascoll denied Tue Jensen in the box before Yates made a fine save to keep out a late effort to preserve the win in the closing stages.
