BEACONSFIELD Town made progress in the Southern League Challenge Cup after a 5-4 win on penalties against Berkhamsted at Holloways Park on Tuesday night, writes Rob Stevens.

The first round tie finished 2-2 in normal time but The Rams held their nerve in the shoot-out with Ade Shokunbi, Luke Heneghan, Tyrell Mitford, Mihai-Andrei Chiriac and James McCluskey all converting from the spot.

The home team took the lead when Mitford headed home a cross from Alex Nolan.

The advantage was doubled as Jordan Ajanlekoko saw his glancing header cleared off the line but Jon-Jo Bates was on hand to fire in before the break.

Berkhamsted from Division One Central pulled a goal back in the second half with a simple header from Stephen Dodd after his original shot was saved by Beaconsfield keeper Borja Teixeira.

The lower-league visitors levelled the scores as Jonathan Lacey cut in from the left hand side and fired into the right-hand corner of the goal.

Beaconsfield return to action in the Premier South with a tough trip to title-chasing Poole Town this Saturday (3pm).

Marlow were successful in the Velocity Trophy after a 3-2 win on penalties against FC Romania in Group Five.

A penalty kick from Devonn Reid plus a Seye Okunlola strike gave The Blues a clear lead at Oak Tree Road but Eugene Morgan pulled one back for the visitors before the break.

Romania took the cup tie to penalties when Lawrence Neuruba found the back of the net in the second half.

Marlow now turn their attention to the Isthmian League South Central Division and a trip to Waltham Abbey this Saturday (3pm).

Chalfont St Peter conceded a three-goal advantage to suffer a 5-3 defeat at Westfield in Group Five of the Velocity Trophy.

A Hani Berchiche brace plus a goal from Dan Willaims saw The Saints storm into the lead at Woking Park, but Elijah Simpson pulled one back for the home side before the break.

Westfield turned the cup match on its head in the second half with goals from Tinashe Nkoma, Gregory Haydon, Ryan Healy and Max Blackmore to secure the victory.

Chalfont St Peter return to action in the league with a visit to Mill Meadow from Barking this Saturday (3pm).
