CHESHAM United suffered back-to-back defeats for the second time this season after a 2-1 loss at Gosport Borough in the Southern Premier South on Saturday, writes Rob Stevens.

The Generals fell behind inside eight minutes at Privett Park as Liam Robinson broke down the right and scored with a shot that went in off the far post.

The visitors equalised when a neat passing move saw Zak Joseph set up Eoin Casey to stroke the ball into the corner of the goal in the 39th minute.

Chesham had appeals for a penalty kick turned down in the second half despite Mark Kirby appearing to be tripped inside the box when about to shot from a Dave Pearce corner.

Gosport secured all three points as a cross from Rory Williams was swept into the net at the near post by Matt Paterson after 73 minutes.

The defeat means Chesham remain in fourth position in the league table ahead of a visit to Mill Meadow from Harrow Borough on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Beaconsfield Town saw their match at Poole Town postponed after the pitch at the Tatnam Ground failed a morning inspection following rain on the South coast.

The Rams return to Holloways Park for the visit of Hartley Wintney on Tuesday (7.45pm).
