Wycombe defender Joe Jacobson admitted reaching the milestone of 500 career appearances is a very proud moment for him.

The Welshman, 32, also celebrates his 33rd birthday on Sunday as he is set to reach that magic number against Tranmere, live on Sky.

Jacobson has had another stellar season so far, including a memorable hat-trick against Lincoln.

The full-back also scored a wonderful free kick in the FA Cup tie last weekend against Sunday's opponents and he explained how much he is looking forward to the game.

He said: "I spoke to my dad yesterday and he said you have not made it until you have made 50 appearances, so getting to 500 is ridiculous really.

"Playing one game is so hard so to get my first appearance was very special for me.

"Now to think, there has been 500 times where managers have trusted me to go out on the pitch and play is incredible so for me and my family, we are extremely proud.

"We have sacrificed a lot and hopefully I can reach many more milestones in the future.

"All I dreamt about was playing for Cardiff as a kid and to make one appearance there was so special for me.

"Looking back, it is strange that it feels like a million miles away but I am still loving it as much now as I did then."
