JASON Worrall scored two tries as Chinnor made it five games unbeaten with a 34-22 victory over Cambridge in the National League One on Saturday.

Josh McNulty, Sam Yawayawa and Nick Selway also crossed as Chinnor closed the gap on the frontrunners with a third successive home win.

Cambridge took the lead on 12 minutes when Matthew Hema forced his way over, Lawrence Rayner converting.

Chinnor hit back moments later though as McNulty was driven over from a lineout, Laurence May adding the extras.

Hema was sin-binned for the visitors and the hosts took full advantage to lead 19-7 after 34 minutes when Worrall and Yawawaya crossed, May converting once.

Chinnor had Carl Kirwan yellow-carded at the end of the first half and Cambridge came out firing after the break.

Joe Tarrant’s unconverted score reduced the home side’s lead, but Chinnor responded well as Worrall dived over for his second try of the game, May converting, to make it 26-12.

Mike Mayhew’s score reduced Chinnor’s lead again, but the hosts were always in control and a May penalty kept the visitors at arm’s length before Selway’s try put the result beyond doubt.

Mayhew was driven over again late on for Cambridge, but it was merely a bonus-point for the visitors.

Chinnor Falcons produced an impressive display to run in seven tries and beat Witney 41-7 in the Oxfordshire Cup last Friday night.

Tom Strathdee, Ryan Collins, George Grose, Rob Nicholls, Sam Angell, Paddy Dias and George Hope crossed on a freezing cold evening at Hailey Road.

Witney played 50 minutes with 14 men after their right wing was red-carded, but the visitors were already 15-0 in front at the time.
