Gareth Ainsworth is hoping to bring in at least one more player to the club before the end of the transfer window.

So far this month, Wycombe have re-signed Jason McCarthy and David Stockdale on loan deals until the end of the season from Millwall and Birmingham respectively.

Both players immediately after signing were included in matchday squads.

And with the Chairboys pushing for promotion to the Championship, Ainsworth hopes he can get one more name joining the club.

The deadline is on Friday, January 31 at 11pm.

Speaking after the 2-1 victory against Blackpool on January 28, Ainsworth said: “It’s great to have selection headaches the way I have and I’m hoping to bring in one more player before the window closes but we’ll see.”

And after David Stockdale made his second debut for the club in the win against Blackpool, Ainsworth said: “David Stockdale had a great first-half.

“He was commanding during the second-half but you can see he was lacking match fitness as his kicking towards the end went a little bit, and I think he’d be disappointed with the goal as the ball moved which is difficult.

“But I’ll be looking at that and I’ll be making sure that whoever is in goal in the next game will be on it.”

He then added: “I think people were starting to look at Wycombe and were thinking that we had hit a blip which we did.

“But I’ll tell you, you tell me a team that wouldn’t hit a blip against Oxford, Portsmouth, Coventry, Ipswich, Sunderland and Peterborough.

“I think many teams would hit a little bit of a blip and that was our Christmas period with Rochdale sandwiched in between.

“The games over Christmas weren’t great but our last four matches have produced two wins, a draw and a loss, and that’s great form to be on.”

Wycombe’s next match is against MK Dons at Stadium MK on February 1.

Their next home fixture is against Bristol Rovers on February 8.
