CHESHAM United regained the winning thread in the BetVictor Southern Premier South after a 2-0 victory at Blackfield & Langley on Saturday.

The Generals had not tasted success since the win at league leaders Truro City two weeks ago and the victory sees them remain a single point behind the table toppers.

The visitors to the Gang Warilly Recreation Ground took the lead inside the first seven minutes as Eoin Casey laid the ball into the path of Karl Oliyide to net with a low drive from inside the box.

Chesham were gifted the chance to double the advantage when Zak Joseph was tripped inside the box by Devane Bongou – who also conceded a penalty in the reverse fixture at The Meadow.

Oliyide took the resulting spot-kick and beat Lewis Noice in the 32nd minute although the Blackfield keeper did get a hand to the ball.

The Generals had the best of the chances in the second half as the returning Dernell Wynter shot for the top corner but Noice tipped the ball over the crossbar before a left-footed drive from Bradley Clayton was forced round the post.

Chesham return to The Meadow for the visit of Welsh club Merthyr Town this Saturday (3pm).

Beaconsfield Town are now five matches without a win in all competitions following their 2-2 draw with Weston-super-Mare at Holloways Park.

The Rams manager Gary Meakin was celebrating his 200th match in charge and his side began well as a Luke Neville header was frantically cleared off the line.

The hosts broke the deadlock when a cross-come-shot from Louis Stead eluded everyone and ended up in the Weston goal on 32 minutes.

Weston were unfortunate not to equalise seconds into the second half as Lloyd Humphries crashed a shot against the crossbar.

The Rams were then out of luck when James Ewington rounded keeper Luke Purnell and shot towards the empty goal but saw the effort bounce back off the post.

The visitors equalised as Chris Knowles was allowed time and space on the edge of the box and fired past Hafed Al-Droubi.

Weston got their noses in front when a cross into the box was met by Bradley Ash and his effort evaded the efforts of Al-Droubi after 64 minutes.

Beaconsfield were gifted the chance to get something from the game as a goal bound shot from Stead was handled on the line by Scott Laird in the 74th minute.

Laird was shown a straight red card and then saw Charlie Losasso calmly slot the resulting spot-kick into the back of the net for a share of the points.

The draw means Beaconsfield remain second from bottom in the league table but now eight points from safety after Walton Casuals lost at home to Wimborne Town.

The Rams make the trip to Metropolitan Police on Tuesday night (7.45pm).
