Matt Bloomfield has revealed that there is ‘no pressure’ on Wycombe as the club sit in second place in League One.

Bloomfield was talking after the Chairboys’ 3-1 victory over Bristol Rovers on Saturday, where the 36-year-old scored the third goal for Wycombe.

Bloomfield said: “I was delighted when the ball hit the back of the net.

“The win was the most important thing but to score on my birthday was lovely.

“My mum, my sister, brother-in-law and nieces were all here as well as my dad and his wife, so it made the day a lot more special.”

The victory means that Wycombe continue their great home form in the league this campaign, as they are unbeaten in 14 of their 15 matches at Adams Park.

Their only defeat was against Coventry on December 29 where they lost 4-1.

And with a home game against Fleetwood on Tuesday, Bloomfield hopes the good form can continue.

He added: “I think we do need to improve our away form but if we can keep winning at home that can take the pressure of us slightly.

“Bristol Rovers are a good team with some very good players and had some good chances.

“But for us, we need to keep winning.

“The pressure is on the big teams around us as they are expected to get promoted.

"There is no pressure on us, as we’re enjoying where we are at the moment.

“Fleetwood are a very good team who spent a lot of money in the summer and we know it’s going to be a tough game against them on Tuesday, but we’re taking it one day at a time.”

Bloomfield has been at the club since 2003 and has played 534 games for Wycombe.
