Wycombe captain Matt Bloomfield has revealed that ‘the fire still burns’ after their victory against Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

The 36-year-old, who scored in the win against the Pirates is in the last few months of his current contract at Adams Park.

And whatever happens in the summer, Bloomfield will hope to continue his playing career.

Bloomfield has been at the club since 2003 and has played over 500 games for the Chairboys.

Speaking after the Bristol Rovers game, Bloomfield said: “I’m out of contract in the summer and obviously, I want to carry on my career.

“I want to keep playing, I feel like I can, I don’t feel physically any different to how I have in the last 10 years.

“Physically I feel great so I want to keep on playing, the fire still burns, it still hurts when I get left out, I’m still desperate to win every time I step onto the training pitch or at Adams Park or away games so I want to keep on playing that’s for sure.
