Wycombe captain Matt Bloomfield believes the current Wycombe squad is one of the best he has ever played in, as the club enjoy their best ever league season.

The Chairboys sit in second-place in League One and have only lost one game at home all season.

Wycombe’s fairy tale season has seen the club receive praise from all over the country as just 30 years ago, the club were not even in the Football League.

And with promotion to the Championship being a realistic opportunity, Bloomfield believes the team is up there with the very best.

“Luckily, we got there earlier in the season and we have managed to stay there for this long.

“I think as a group of people it is definitely right up there because with this group, we don’t have the budget that other teams have and we don’t have the big names like the other teams have got.

“But we have a group of people that are working tirelessly to be as one as a team out there on the pitch under the gaffer’s stewardship.”

Bloomfield has taken the club to three promotions, a League Cup semi-final and a trip to Wembley in the play-off final.

And he will be hoping to add a fourth promotion to his career this season.
