THE Chiltern Cheetahs Momentum cheerleading team has won the right to represent the United Kingdom at The Summit in the United States of America this May.

Chiltern Cheetahs was started in 2012 by Jessica Goodall – the head coach and programme director – and now has over 150 athletes with many of them competing across the UK. The Momentum team is at level three and has 21 members.

The Buckinghamshire-based team continued their success in 2019 when winning National Championship titles which earned them a place at The Summit in Florida.

Goodall said: “We’re delighted to have won a place to compete at The Summit. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the team to represent their country.

“They’ve worked so hard all last year to get to this level of fitness and skill and we hope that we will do the UK proud when we compete this May.

“We’re up against 43 other teams and know it will be a tough competition. Our aim is to perform a perfect routine and get through to the final round.”

The programme director added: “Cheerleading is a sport that has grown exponentially in the past 10 years with over 100 registered teams in the UK and it is stilly growing in popularity all the time.

“It’s a sport that demands a high level of skills in gymnastic, dance, strength and flexibility as well as the ability to work well in a team.

“It’s a brilliant sport which will all feel passionate about.”
