THE Football Association and steps three to six in the National League System (NLS) have reached a consensus that the 2019-20 season will be brought to an end today (Thursday), writes Rob Stevens.

The decision means all results will be expunged so there will be no promotion or relegation of clubs between steps three to six in the NLS as well as no promotion to step two.

The consensus will also apply to step seven.

The FA will continue to assist and support the National League (steps one and two) to determine the outcome of its season as quickly as possible,

The planned implementation of the restructure of the NLS will now be deferred until the start to the 2021-22 season.

The FA has also confirmed that all grassroots football is concluded for the season. It is hoped it will allow the game to move forward and to commence planning for the 2020-21 season.

County Football Association bodies will now support grassroots leagues over the coming days to determine how they should close their current competitions.

The decisions will be put to The FA Council for ratification where appropriate.

The FA will continue to seek guidance in regards to government financial support packages relative to the coronavirus and how they are applicable to clubs in the NLS.

It means Slough Town must continue to wait to find out what will happen for the remainder of the season in the National League South. The Rebels are currently in the play off spots.
