“Neil stepped in as honorary treasurer in 1996, at a time when the accounts were in some disarray.

“Ever since then, he devoted an enormous amount of time, skill, and the resources of his accountancy company to the effective management of the club’s finances and, with 24 years in office, he was by some distance the second-longest serving treasurer in the club’s history.

“Neil’s wonderful contribution to the administration of the club was recognised when he was elected to honorary life membership in March.
