Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth admitted that there were a ‘couple of heated debates’ between his players as they defeated Fleetwood to get into League One play-off final.
The Chairboys, despite taking a 4-1 lead to Adams Park, were trailing 1-0 after Danny Andrew fired in a half-volley midway through the first-half to give Fleetwood some hope.
The first drinks break followed soon after with the gaffer saying ‘calming them [the players] was key’.

Speaking after the game, he said: “The perfect plan would've been a 0-0, a boring game.
“But once Fleetwood scored, it was about how we reacted mentally.
“And if I'm honest, there were a couple of heated debates on that drinks break and calming them down was really key, and saying just exactly what they'd done on Friday night to put them in this position.
“Sometimes somebody will put a spanner in the works and it’s about how you react to that, which is so important.
“So, the reaction to Fleetwood’s goal was really important.”
Ainsworth also praised Adebayo Akinfenwa for his contribution.
The ‘Beast’ came on at half-time, where he replaced Alex Samuel.
He continued: “Listen, you know, when that guy walks in a room, so you really know when he walks on a football pitch.
“And I think that itself is a change in a game that people see in him, and then it changes the dynamics of the game.
“We defended deep as the boys soaked up the pressure.
“We caught them on the counter a couple of times, and I think Fred was absolutely outstanding with his work and his pace.
“But I can't take anything away from any one of the 20 in the squad.

“I've got players in their own six-yard box just chucking in their bodies in front of it [the ball].
“We've had teams do it to us when we've been on top.
“But that was awesome.
“That was brilliant to see.

“We might need to keep doing that.
“What an achievement.
"These players just do not know when to stop.
“And I'm really proud to be the manager.”
Regardless if Wycombe were to get promoted, this is statistically the Chairboys’ greatest ever season.
