Amersham Town Football Club has set up a Crowdfunding page to help their first team get a kit and equipment for the up-and-coming season.

The Magpies, who play at Spratleys Meadow, have set a target of £3,000 with the money going towards winter training facilities, a kit, tracksuits, and media equipment.

The page has been created due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which has seen football teams in the lower leagues lose money due to sponsors pulling out due to the current financial situation.

So far, £70 has been raised.

The page reads: “Covid-19 has impacted all of our lives, jobs and families - changing how we all think about and approach the future.

“As we adjust to the new world, we’re appealing to the community to rally to support their local football club.

“Without support, Amersham Town will not be able to continue to give opportunities to young local talent.

“Government interventions don’t apply, we can’t promise businesses that spectators will even see their names on shirts as we are a small club and don't have the biggest of followings but we are active on social media and love working with local businesses to highlight the good things Amersham has to offer.

“We may not have a Harry Kane to sponsor our shirts, but if you are in a position to help us continue to train the squad and once the gates open again (with the one-way system in place!), see your name on our shirts, in the programmes, on the website, then please make a donation to our Go Fund Me page.

“Any amount is hugely appreciated.”

Prior to all the leagues in England being suspended in the middle of March, Amersham Town were in 11th place in the Spartan South Midlands League Division One, where they won 10 of their 27 games in the league season, accumulating 32 points.

Due to the pandemic, leagues below the Football League were then made void at the start of June.
