Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth was left scratching his head after the Chairboys seemed to have a perfectly legitimate goal disallowed in their 2-1 home defeat to Millwall.
After taking the lead through Scott Kashket following a mistake from Lions keeper Bart Bialkowski, which happened to be the club’s first goal in the division, a penalty from Jed Wallace and a Ryan Leonard strike saw Wycombe sink to their fifth straight league defeat.

However, moments before Wycombe fell behind, Joe Jacobson scored directly from a corner following a huge goalmouth scramble in the Millwall penalty box.
The left-back celebrated, the Wycombe players were ecstatic and Ainsworth was relieved, but referee Andrew Madley disallowed the goal, for an alleged foul on Bialkowski, despite replays showing that Millwall’s best player last season wasn’t touched by anyone in blue.
Speaking after the game, Ainsworth said: “The fourth official said there was a foul on their goalkeeper and for the life of me and I cannot see any foul.
“Joe Jacobson is known for scoring directly from corners so I don’t know – it is not going our way at the moment.
“I believe in these players and I thought we deserved a bit more out of the game today, so if anyone sees that corner we scored directly from, please tell me what is wrong with that.
“The referee has given a foul.
"There is absolutely nothing and to me, that is a perfect goal and at the moment, we are not getting those decisions but it will come, I am confident of that.”
Despite the loss, which was Wycombe’s first league defeat against Millwall since 1999, Ainsworth remained positive and is adamant that the club’s inaugural win in the Championship is coming soon.
Wycombe have got Reading, Norwich, Watford, and Sheffield Wednesday to play in the remainder of October.
He continued: “We’re improving.
"We broke the duck on the goal which is great, and I thought it was a battling performance, a more Wycombe-like performance today.
“Akinfenwa coming back was a big boost but I am still missing a couple of key players.
“I am pleased again.
“It is a tough league and we’re going to get this win soon, I’m telling you.”
Wycombe travel to Reading on Tuesday night.
