Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth believes the goal that his side conceded in their 1-0 away loss to Reading was scored ‘too easily’.

Lucas Joao got the winner midway through the second-half after controlling a long ball from Liam Moore.

The striker shrugged off both Anthony Stewart and Josh Knight to fire past Ryan Allsop.

The victory keeps Wycombe in 23rd place, whilst Reading are sitting pretty at the top of the table.

Ainsworth said: “We let them score too easily from a long ball.

“They are a passing side, we stopped their passing game and ironically it was one hoof up front, chest down and it’s a goal.

“The boys gave me everything and the key moments have cost us.

“We were beaten and that is six on the spin, that’s a first for me and the first for Wycombe for a long time, but it is also the first time we have been in the Championship so you can marry that up.

“Apart from the Blackburn game, I think we have been in every game and I have been able to pick the bones and the reasons why we are not getting carved apart.

“I’m now looking forward to Saturday.”

Wycombe’s next opponents are Norwich City, who are just outside the play-off places on goal difference.
