Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth said he was ‘disappointed’ with his side’s first-half performance against Derby County.

The Chairboys were 1-0 down at the break after American Duane Holmes gave the Rams the lead, which was his first goal of the season.

However, a spirited second-half performance saw Wycombe get their equaliser through skipper Matt Bloomfield on 81 minutes, who was playing in his first match for nearly a month.

It was his first game since the win against Sheffield Wednesday on October 31, and his equaliser means he has now scored in each of his 18 seasons at the club.

Speaking after the game at Pride Park, Ainsworth said: “I was so disappointed with the first-half performance.

“We need to find an identity without the big man [Adebayo Akinfenwa].

“The changes at half-time were vital and there was only team looking likely to score.”

“Not getting beat was big today.

“I’m thrilled for Blooms; he’s come off with a bloodied face and that’s what you get from him.

“We won’t take this point lightly.

“Yes, we want wins, but we’ve come to Derby County and matched them.”

The result means Wycombe move on 10 points for the season and stay in 22nd position, but are now unbeaten in seven matches.

Up next for Ainsworth's men is a home match against Stoke City on Wednesday, December 2 at Adams Park.
