Stoke City manager Michael O'Neill has praised Wycombe’s performance after the two sides met at Adams Park on Wednesday night.

The Potters defeated the Chairboys 1-0 on December 2 with Nick Powell getting the winner, yet despite the victory, the Northern Irishmen was full of admiration in the way Gareth Ainsworth’s men performed on the night.

O'Neill said: “Wycombe give everyone a hard time and you can see that with the results they have had already.

“I was speaking to Gareth before the game and I think for the first few games, they found things a bit hard, but they have adapted to the Championship over the last six games as they have only lost once.

“That tells you that they have got great spirit, and we [Stoke] had to match that and match their attitude which we did.”

The result was Wycombe’s first defeat since the loss to Nottingham Forest on November 7.
