Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth will face his old club this weekend in the FA Cup third round as the Chairboys take on Preston North End.

Ainsworth had three separate spells as a player with the Lancashire-side where he played 111 games and scored 15 goals for the club.

The 47-year-old has already faced four of his former teams so far this season in Blackburn, PNE, QPR, and Cardiff, and admits it is ‘nice’ to be up against old faces.

Speaking ahead of the FA Cup match, Ainsworth said: “It always adds a personal edge [when you’re up against your former club].

“Cardiff was of my old clubs, QPR who we’ve got next week and then Preston on Saturday

“Blackburn coming up again too.

“There’s a lot of ex-clubs and it always adds that little bit for me.

“It’s nice.

“I’ve never been at a club where I wasn’t liked and been hounded out so it’s always nice.

“The only thing missing is the fans which I played in front of.

“They won’t get to see me as a manager but I’m sure they will be watching on TV.

“But, I want Wycombe Wanderers to win this weekend without a shadow of a doubt."

The match will be streamed on the FA player for free.
