Wycombe Wanderers have confirmed that Josh Knight has extended his loan deal with the club from Leicester City.

The 23-year-old centre-back joined the Chairboys in the autumn and has been an ever-present number on Gareth Ainsworth’s team sheet, as he has started 19 matches games since signing.

His original deal expired a day after the 3-1 home defeat to Middlesbrough on January 2, but his extension means he will be at the club for the remainder of the season.

Manager Gareth Ainsworth said: “It’s a badly kept secret that we’ve been working hard to keep Josh here and I’m delighted to get it done.

“He’s been excellent for us ever since his first game back in September and had to adapt to playing with a number of different centre-back partners due to injuries in recent weeks, which he’s taken in his stride and continued to be a big, big player for us.

“It’s great to have Josh and Admiral Muskwe’s loans over the line this week, and once again I’m thankful to Andrew Howard for his efforts in the negotiations and to Rob, Missy and Pete Couhig for their backing of me and my team which has enabled these deals to come through.

“I’m really pleased with the quality we have in the squad and there’s still a lot of time left in this January transfer window so we’ll see what we’re able to achieve in order to make this squad as strong as it possibly can be to give us every chance of surviving at this level.”

He will be available to play in the FA Cup match against Preston North End on Saturday, alongside his Leicester City teammate, Admiral Muskwe, who joined on January 5.
