Wycombe have confirmed that second-choice goalkeeper David Stockdale has joined Stevenage on an emergency loan.

The 35-year-old, who is in his third spell with the Chairboys, has yet to play a first-team match this season due to the stellar performances of Wanderers’ number one, Ryan Allsop.

The former Fulham, Brighton, and Hove Albion, Birmingham City, and York City shot-stopper joined the League Two outfit on February 2, and made his debut on the same day, as Boro lost at home to Exeter City 1-0.

He joins the club after Stevenage’s number one keeper, Jamie Cumming, suffered an ankle injury in the Hertfordshire side’s weekend fixture against Grimsby Town.

Stockdale’s last game for the Chairboys to date was against Milton Keynes Dons on February 1, 2020, at Stadium: MK.

Wanderers lost that game 2-0.

Upon signing, Stevenage manager Alex Revell said: “With Jamie being out for a couple of weeks and Billy Johnson still young and learning his trade, it was vital that we brought in another Goalkeeper and we couldn’t be more pleased to bring in someone of David’s calibre.

“He will be a fantastic addition to the team both on the pitch and in the changing room.”
