A Wycombe Wanderers youngster has made their international debut for the Saint Kitts and Nevis national team.

Andre Burley, 21, who joined the Chairboys in September alongside Anis Mehmeti, Malachi Linton, and Andron Georgiou for the side’s B Team, made his inaugural appearance for the Sugar Boyz, as the Caribbean side defeated Puerto Rico 1-0 on Wednesday, March 24.

The match was a World Cup qualifier in the Concacaf region, with striker Vicnceroy Nelson scoring the winner for Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Burley, who was born in Slough, spent his formative years at Reading and made two appearances for the club in the 2017/18 Football League Trophy, representing the Royals’ under 21 side in the competition.

He then made his professional debut for the club in the 2019/20 season, when he started in Reading’s 2-2 home draw against Blackpool in the third round of the FA Cup.

Ten days later, he played in the reply at Bloomfield Road and helped Reading progress to the fourth round, as they defeated the Tangerines 2-0 in Lancashire.

His final appearance for the club came in the fourth round fixture against Cardiff City, which finished 1-1.

A brief spell at the Ireland First Division side, Waterford, in February 2020 followed, before Burley was released by Reading in the summer of that year.

Burley's joins an impressive list

He joined Wycombe in September and has yet to make a first-team appearance for the club, but he has been an unused sub on two occasions for Wanderers this season.

Burley was an unused sub in the Chairboys’ 1-0 home defeat to Stoke City on December 2, which was the fixture that allowed fans back in at Adams Park, and in the 2-2 away draw at Preston North End three days later.

He then joined non-league Hungerford Town in December on a loan deal, and has since played five times for the Crusaders.
