Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth believes Wanderers’ survival charge to avoid relegation to League One is ‘not over yet’.

The gaffer was speaking after his side drew 0-0 away at Coventry, with the result meaning that the Chairboys are now 11 points away from safety with just eight matches left.

And with Rotherham United, who currently occupying 22nd position, having four games in hand on Wanderers, it is going to be a tall order for Wycombe to avoid the drop back into England’s third tier.

But, Ainsworth is staying positive.

“I think we restricted Coventry’s quality at times so it was a game of few chances.

“Usually, a point away from home and a clean sheet in the Championship is brilliant, but, we need wins and we were trying to go for it near the end, but my boys gave me everything.

“How can I be disappointed in that?

“It is tough in this league but we go again on Good Friday against Blackburn.”

The fixture was the last before this weekend’s international break.

He continued: “We’ve got to rest now, but I am pleased with the efforts.

“To try and dominate possession and take the game to people is tough for us.

“I think there needs to be a mini-revolution in the way we play and the players we bring in, and obviously, it is finances, but I have unbelievable owners.

“Rob, Pete and Missy Couhig are right behind this revolution we’re trying to do here, as we have got a long-term plan to either stay in this league, or to come back to this league, and I’m really positive as it is not over yet.

“No chance.

“We are still going to battle hard and who is to say we can’t win every game we have got left?
