Wycombe legend Joe Jacobson believes his side showed ‘great spirit’ despite the Chairboys’ 2-1 away loss against Cardiff.
The left-back, who started his career with the Welsh side, scored against his boyhood club in the defeat with a penalty, which has all-but relegated Wanderers back down to League One, on the basis a miracle is performed in the next two weeks.
Up next for Wycombe are Bournemouth at home and Middlesbrough away.
He said: “We knew what we had to do today [April 24.]
“We had great fight and spirit, and over the past few weeks, we’ve developed real belief.
“I’m extremely proud to be part of this club.
“The gaffer is already in there getting everyone’s spirits up.
“We are where we are in the table for a reason.
“But it won’t be the last time the club plays at this level.
“We aren’t a million miles off it.
“The past few weeks have shown that.
“If we go down, we’ll be giving everything to come back.”
