Now a new challenge for the pair as Charles returns to AFC Wimbledon whilst Knight has earned a permanent move to the Championship signing a three-year deal at Peterborough.

This means Charles will face Wanderers next season playing for Wimbledon, a club where he spent two years prior to his time at Adams Park.

Wimbledon head coach Mark Robinson told the club’s website: “He’s very capable of playing, but I’m quite happy with the centre-back options that we’ve got.

"Darius will be there if we need him to play, but he’s also there to implement everything we want around the changing room and the environment."

The centre back made thirty-five appearances for Wycombe but quickly become a fan favourite after the club's promotion to the Championship.

Joining on loan last season to bolster Gareth Ainsworth's squad for the Championship, Knight impressed massively winning both the Supporters’ and Players' Player of the Year awards at the end of the season.

Knight is also joining a former club after completing a loan spell at Peterborough prior to his time at Wycombe.

Both players will be remembered by fans for the part they played in the Chairboy's highest ever EFL finish in the club's history.
