Wycombe goalkeeper Curtis Anderson has joined Eastbourne Borough on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old, who signed for the Chairboys last season, has yet to make a first-team appearance for Gareth Ainsworth's men, but was included in 10 of Wanderers' matchday squads in 2020/21.

This included being an unused sub in their 3-0 away win at Middlesbrough on May 8, which was the match that confirmed the Chairboys' relegation into League One.

His move to Sussex is to help him gain more first-team football.

The club confirmed the signing on July 9

Speaking upon signing for the Priory Lane outfit, Anderson said: "Obviously I'm really excited.

“Even though I’m young, I’m quite experienced in high-pressure games.

"Every game in itself is high-pressure, especially for a team who want to be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.

“Having that experience of playing tournament football and winning can only be a positive and I look forward to the challenge.”

Last summer, Anderson joined Wycombe as a free agent, after leaving his previous club, second-tier North American side Charlotte Independence, in August 2019.

Prior to this, the Barrow-born shot stopper spent seven years at Man City between 2012 and 2019 but did not make a single first-team appearance for the club.

He also had three years as a youth team player at Blackpool between 2009 and 2012, and spent some time at Non League Walton Casuals on loan from Wanderers last season.

Anderson is now at Eastbourne

The 20-year-old also won the FIFA Under 17 World Cup with England in 2017.

Eastbourne's manager, Danny Bloor, added: "Curtis was always going to be our first choice once we knew he was available.

"To sign a World Cup winner at a club of our stature shows how far we've come on and off the pitch.

"I'd like to thank Wycombe and their goalkeeper coach Lee Harrison for making this possible, and Curtis' agent - former England U21 goalkeeper - Richard Lee and we look forward to Curtis making his debut at the friendly at Folkestone [on July 10]."
