Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth has praised the Chairboys’ fans commitment following their 2-1 loss against MK Dons in the Papa John’s Trophy.
The defeat has seen the Adams Park outfit be eliminated from the competition, but out of the 1,300 supporters that made the trip to Stadium: MK on October 5, a couple of hundred trekked from South Bucks to cheer the Chairboys on.
Speaking after the match, he said: “It’s the Papa John’s Trophy, we’re in a fuel crisis, it’s a worknight/school night and I honestly hope the fans are buoyed by that performance.

“I hope they can see what we’re trying to do at Wycombe.
“The result isn’t everything, believe me.
“I have learned a lot tonight about myself, MK Dons, my players, and trust us.

“We have got plans in place to take this club to the higher echelons of the leagues.
“And I take my hat off to them as they have been awesome all season.”
