The Chairgirls’ brilliant start to the season continued as they smashed EB Lions 6-0 last weekend.

Starting fast, Wycombe were 1-0 within three minutes when Naimh Creighton collected a through ball from Amy Norfolk and slotted it into the bottom corner.

Almost identical to the first, Amelia Gilbert made it 2-0 two minutes later, when she came in from the right wing to receive a through ball from opposite winger, Sally Grimm, who placed it into the net.

Not wanting to settle on their fantastic start, Wycombe were on all-out attack and EB Lions didn’t really have an answer for it.

On 12 minutes, Emma Dean was brought down on the edge of the box, but she took the resulting free-kick that flew into the centre of the goal to make it 3-0 for the team from South Bucks.

Naimh Creighton was unlucky to not add to her tally as she hit in the post in the moments later, before EB Lions registered their first shot on goal just short of the midway mark of the first-half.

The game then settled down, being played mostly in the middle third of the pitch, until the 33rd minute when a fantastic run from Emma Dean saw her pass two defenders and clear the keeper only to see her shot come back off the cross bar.

Expecting EB Lions to come out stronger for the second half, the Chairgirls were a little more reserved, but Wycombe got their fourth 30 minutes from time, as Brooke Sanders, who was stepping up from the U18’s, received the ball on the edge of the box, turned and shot into the bottom corner to make it 4-0.

The fourth goal seemed to give the Chairgirls some impetus and Sally Grimm was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet on 65 minutes, when she shot just wide having made a run down the wing.

Grimm did in fact add to the score with 10 minutes remaining when she hit the top corner from 25 yards out.

This goal was quickly followed by a fantastic run from centre back by Eve Savage, who was unlucky to see her shot hit the side netting after taking on half of the defence on her own.

And to wrap up the win, captain Emilie Bamford danced around 2 defenders and scored in the bottom near corner on her weaker foot.

A day to remember for the Chairgirls.
