Wycombe Wanderers are hoping to make it nine league wins in a row at home as they take on Ipswich Town at Adams Park this evening.

In what would only be the third meeting ever between these two clubs, an estimated 6,700 people (this could increase) are expected to make their way to South Bucks to witness a Wycombe side playing some wonderful football.

Despite the club dropping from second to third in the league following their 3-3 draw away at Fleetwood Town on Saturday, Wanderers’ football is the result of great man-management from Gareth Ainsworth, who is getting the best out of his team.

Garath McCleary, a former international and Premier League footballer, has already scored five goals this season after only getting four in the previous campaign, whilst David Stockdale’s saves have helped Wanderers keep three clean sheets in the last five games.

These are players who were deemed surplus to requirements at their previous clubs in Reading and Birmingham City respectively.

They are now playing some of the best football of their careers, and with Adams Park close to being a full house tonight, the whole squad, play out of their skin.

However, Ipswich will be no push over when they arrive in South Bucks this evening.

After a difficult start to the season, which saw the Tractor Boys not win any of their first eight games, the Suffolk side have gradually improved as they have managed to secure six wins from their last 10 fixtures in all competitions.

One of those wins was an impressive 4-0 away triumph at Portsmouth.

So, even though Wanderers are enjoying their incredible run at home, tonight could be a potential banana slip as Ipswich look like they have turned a corner.

But, as we have seen so many times this season, Wycombe don’t give up with the Morecambe, Crewe Alexandra games being prime examples.

In terms of team news, changes are expected to be made as manager Gareth Ainsworth did say before the Fleetwood battle that rotations will happen.

This is due to keep the squad fresh, along with long away trips against Hartlepool United, Plymouth Argyle and Sheffield Wednesday to come this month.

Lighter topics on this fixture include that Stockdale is up against one of his former sides, as he spent half of the 2011/12 season on loan at the club from Fulham, where he played 18 games.

Matt Bloomfield, who is now on the coaching staff but is still registered as a player, also started his career with the Tractor Boys.
