Wycombe Wanderers’ away fixture at Bolton Wanderers has been postponed.

Both clubs confirmed the news on December 16, two days before the match was due to take place, after the Trotters revealed that several first team members of their squad have tested positive for Covid-19.

In a brief statement on the former Premier League club’s website, they said: “Bolton Wanderers informed the EFL that it would be unable to fulfil the fixture at the University of Bolton Stadium due to a number of positive Covid-19 cases in their squad.

“In light of the increased transmission rate of the Omicron variant, the EFL will now review the circumstances surrounding the postponement.

“In addition, it will assist affected Clubs throughout this challenging period to help them mitigate against the risk of infection amongst players and staff while ensuring their obligations to the EFL regulations are maintained.

“A rearranged date for the fixture will be confirmed in due course.”

Wycombe also issued out the same statement.

It is not the first time this calendar year that a match involving Wycombe has been called off due to Covid-19, as their away trip at QPR in January was rearranged to March following an outbreak at the Adams Park club.
