Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth has quashed the rumours that are linking the 49-year-old to the soon-to-be vacancy at Rotherham United.

Ainsworth, who celebrates his 10th anniversary in charge of the club on September 24, has been tipped to be one of the favourites to succeed Paul Warne as the Millers’ boss, with the latter expected to move to Derby County.

Warne has been in charge of the South Yorkshire club since 2016 and has achieved three promotions to the Championship in that time (2018, 2020 and 2022).

He also played 292 times for Rotherham across two spells between 1998 to 2005, and between 2009 to 2012.

Speaking to the press, Ainsworth said: “Today [September 22], was the first I heard of it.

“My daughter called me up and said that I was on the message boards at West Brom and Steve Bruce hasn’t even lost his job.

“He is still in charge as far as I know.

“All these rumours are just rumours and I am really happy with what I have got here.

“The moment I start looking around and looking at what I might be able to have [elsewhere] is the moment I let myself down as a manager.

“It’s not about the figure – it’s about the feeling and I am really, really happy here.

“I’m not saying that I am going to be here forever because something might come along one day that I might consider, but at the moment, I am loving it here.
