Wycombe Wanderers goalkeeper Max Stryjek has stated that the team ‘need to focus on ourselves’, ahead of their League Cup fixture against Milton Keynes.

The Chairboys go into the Buckinghamshire derby off the back of a terrible opening day 3-0 loss at home to Exeter City, where the Adams Park side were 2-0 down inside the first four minutes.

The Polish shot-stopper then saved a penalty after committing a foul that led to the spot-kick being given.

However, his attention is now on Tuesday’s night clash versus Wanderers’ county rivals and he believes that results will eventually come.

MK go into the match after an impressive 5-3 away victory against newly-promoted Wrexham in League Two.

And like Exeter, Milton Keynes were also 2-0 up inside the opening 10 minutes.

Stryjek told the press: “Against Exeter, we had a bad 10 minutes but the other 80 minutes were good.

“We went through a massive change during the pre-season, another style of play, we implemented new players, we are trying to implement a new style – how we want to play – to keep the ball a little bit more, and it will take time.

“We as a group of players know how we want to play, we know what we do in training and we'll keep working hard.

"Obviously, we just need to show that in the games.”

“It’s professional football, you have to treat every game the same way and you try to win every single game.”

Manager Matt Bloomfield added: “We want to progress, we want to win the game and the match will give some players a chance to improve on their fitness.

"It’ll be an opportunity for some of the boys to find their speed of playing competitive football.

“We will prepare to try and win the game.”

This will be the first meeting between Wycombe and MK in the League Cup.
