Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield has revealed Ryan Tafazolli picked up a hamstring injury in the club’s 3-2 win over Leyton Orient.

The 31-year-old centre back started the victory against the Os but was substituted in the 60th minute for Richard Keogh with the scores at 2-1 to the Chairboys.

His departure is the latest injury for the former Peterborough United man who was making his first league start at Adams Park since April.

When asked if Tafazolli was taken off for tactical or for injury reasons, Bloomfield said: “He picked up an injury so we need to see how he is.

“We were told that he couldn’t continue so he had to come off which is very disappointing.

“He had been checking it all day so he might be alright but he might not.

“He gets these knocks here and there and we just need to see how he is.”

One of the other centre backs that stole the show on Tuesday night was new signing Joe Low, who scored a brace on his league debut for the Chairboys.

The first was a brilliant volley after 15 minutes to give Wanderers the lead along with their first goal of the league season, whilst the second was a well-taken diving header near the start of the second half.

Both goals were set up by fellow new boy Luke Leahy, and Bloomfield wax lyrical over the Welsh defender.

He said: “Joe came with us at the start of pre-season and played in a few games as a trialist.

“He was willing to take a chance and we knew all about him because of his loan spell at Walsall last season when we were at Colchester.

“He stood out that night and I have given him a chance and he’s grabbed it.

“During pre-season he was very good as well as Milton Keynes last week, and it was a hard decision to leave him out at Lincoln.

“I don’t think he deserved that but we didn’t want to get carried away and he’s still a young boy that is learning his trade.

“He’s a threat in the box and he defended very well.

“He and Richard Keogh are staying out 30 to 45 minutes after training and Joe is picking his brains on how to improve.

“Joe is desperate to get better and one of the reasons we got Richard in is that he’s played at a very good level, he’s played international level and I know that he’ll play a huge role in Joe’s development.

“He’s brought in so much energy to the group and we know Joe can get better.”
