Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield believes Dale Taylor could be absent ‘for a little while’ following the Chairboys’ 2-1 victory away at Bristol Rovers.

The Northern Irishman was stretchered off in the final 20 minutes at the Memorial Stadium after colliding with defender James Wilson when going in for a 50/50 battle.

The challenge seemed innocuous, but the striker immediately held the bottom of his leg by the halfway line.

He was eventually seen after the reaction from both sets of players indicated that the injury was more serious than first thought.

Following the incident, he has been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Additionally, centre back Ryan Tafazolli was also taken off injured just three minutes into the second half.

The ex-Peterborough United man hobbled off with a leg injury and left the ground wearing a moon boot.

Bloomfield said: “Dale has suffered a knock and he was stretchered off which is never a good sign.

“We need to assess him to see where he is as he’s been so good for us.

“We went to great lengths to try and get him as we know what he can bring to this football club.

“He’s one of the few players to start every game for us this season which shows how important he is.

“It’s a real shame to lose him but we’ll need to assess him as quickly as possible.”

On Tafazolli’s latest setback, he added: “We had a good replacement in Richard Keogh as we respect what he brings to the team.

“But on Taf, we have to assess the injury over the weekend to see where we are before the transfer window shuts.

“We’ve gone from having a fully fit squad in the last few days but have now lost Joe [Jacobson], Jack [Grimmer], Ryan [Tafazolli] and probably Dale [Taylor] for a little while.

“It’s frustrating.”

Up next is Sutton United at home in the League Cup.
