Wycombe Wanderers are set to re-sign striker Uche Ikpeazu on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old forward, who is currently a free agent following his departure from the Turkish side Konyaspor, is reportedly due to have a medical with the Chairboys this week following several positive talks with manager Matt Bloomfield.

The Ugandan forward had also been linked with a move to Queens Park Rangers, Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City respectively.

The one-time Wanderer is now set for a move back to Buckinghamshire two years after leaving Adams Park.

This included scoring twice in the last four games, with one of these strikes being a 25-yard left-footed screamer against promotion-pushing Bournemouth which resulted in a 1-0 win for the Chairboys.

The goal was regarded as one of the best in the Championship that season.

His anticipated re-arrival in the Chilterns will also bring an end to three consecutive transfer windows where his name has been linked with a move back to Wycombe.

Speaking on potentially signing Ikpeazu, Bloomfield said: “We’re always evaluating the group to see where we need to strengthen.

“Uche was a big player for us a few years ago and we’ll see what will happen.”
