Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield believes his side’s upcoming home fixture against promotion-pushing Bolton will be ‘another tough game’.

The Chairboys are hoping to break into the top six for the first time this season with a victory over the Trotters, with the Adams Park side currently sitting seventh in the League One table.

However, the former Premier League outfit, who were eliminated in the play-off semi-finals last season, have also started the season strongly.

Ian Evatt’s team have lost just three of their 12 league games so far this campaign, and have scored the fourth-highest amount of domestic goals in the division with 21.

They are joint with Charlton Athletic, whilst Portsmouth (22), Oxford United (24), and Barnsley (26), have scored more.

Speaking on the fixture, Bloomfield said: “It’ll nice to be back at home and we know they’ll be a good team.

“They won on [Saturday], and there are many good teams in this league as every game is tough.

“So we’ll be going into Tuesday looking for that performance as I want the boys to recover as it’ll be another rough game.

“We’ve got a competitive squad as everyone wants to play and we’ll make sure we’re ready to go on Tuesday night.”

Finally, the 39-year-old praised the travelling fans who made the journey from Buckinghamshire to Cambridgeshire on Saturday, as Wycombe gained a point in what was a very entertaining encounter against Peterborough United.

There was also a round of applause for the late Chairboys fan, Dave Finch, who passed away last week at the age of 73.

Both sets of supporters got to their feet to remember the lifelong Wanderers supporter, and former club historian.

He said: “I had some brilliant support from the fans [on Saturday] in the way they turned up and got behind us.

“They really inspired us so thank you to them.

“There is a lot of unity in football when the football family comes together, so it was nice to see that.

“We all love our club and everything that comes into it, but life and death are lot more important tat football.”
