Speaking ahead of Sunday’s showpiece, he said about Kone: “I was gutted that we didn’t get Richard done by the end of August, but doesn’t seem like much fazes him and he’s got an incredible back story.

“Some of us might find that hard to understand totally, as he’s seen and felt things that fortunately in our lives we’ve not had to go through.

“He’s a boy that we think a lot of and I love him to bits.

“He’s got a big future and we’re fortunate to have him here.”

On Ravizzoli, he continued: “Franco is a very calm character and he came with a really good recommendation from Sergio Torres and Russell Martin, who are two guys who I trust implicitly on football.

“He joined us in pre-season, he played well in the early rounds and I believe he was a good back-up to Max [Stryjek], who has also had a very good season.

“We’re lucky to have two very good goalkeepers who are training very well and hard for that number one spot.

“Franco has had to be patient but he’s been performing well.”

Finally, on the season as a whole and appearing at Wembley on April 7, he concluded: “We’ve had some tough moments this season and dare I say, we’ll have some tough moments to come.

“That’s what football management is about, but we’ve taken this competition strongly.

“With that, I hope my family enjoy it.

“I hope they enjoy it, along with the fans as well.

“We’ve had to show resilience where we kept ploughing on.”
