Wycombe Wanderers could be without striker Dan Udoh ahead of their EFL Cup match against Aston Villa on Tuesday night.
The Nigerian forward, who has scored three goals in nine appearances since his move from Shrewsbury Town in the summer, was replaced by Kieran Sadlier after just 20 minutes in the recent 2-1 victory over Cambridge United.
It has since been confirmed his withdrawal was due to a concussion.
He received a blow to the head by a James Gibbons clearance in the opening minute of the contest.
Speaking after the win over the Amber Army on September 21, Bloomfield told the Free Press and BBC 3 Counties: “Dan is OK, but I am not happy with the incident that led him coming off.
“Dan has been a real diamond for us since joining, but we need to look after him and check to see how he is feeling.
“We’ll have to assess it.
“Head injuries and concussions are severe, and if there is one person who knows that, then it’s me, due to what happened in my career.”
Due to the head injury protocols, Udoh will unlikely feature in the showpiece at Adams Park, which could draw a crowd of nearly 8,000 people.
The terrace is sold out along with the away end, as Wycombe prepare to face Villa for the first time in the competition for 19 years.
The last time the two teams met in any capacity was in the third round of the 2015/16 FA Cup.
A 1-1 draw in Buckinghamshire led to a replay at Villa Park 10 days later, which the Premier League side won 2-0.
That year, Wanderers finished 13th, 11 points off the League Two play-off places, whilst Villa were relegated to the Championship after suffering their worst-ever PL campaign – finishing bottom with just three wins.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s clash, Bloomfield said: “I’m extremely excited about it and I’m proud to be leading out the club in what is a huge occasion.
“I thought it was key for us before the Cambridge game to use the excitement of the Villa game, but not get carried away as we had business to attend to first.
“Everyone wants to be a part of a huge night against Aston Villa, but we have to be mindful that we have three big league games coming up – which include two trips on the road (Bristol Rovers and Barnsley).
“There is nothing better than seeing a full Adams Park under the lights.
“I’m looking forward to savouring the and making sure we can be the best we can be.
