Marlow Men’s first team secured their first win of the season with a thrilling performance against Exeter University, marking a significant milestone since their promotion.

The match took place in the England Hockey League on Sunday at Exeter University.

The visitors displayed determination and skill throughout the contest, ultimately claiming a hard-fought victory.

Jayden Zamler was the standout performer, scoring a hat-trick that included two goals in the opening quarter.

He struck first from open play and then added a second just before the quarter ended.

Although Exeter managed to pull one back before half-time, Marlow responded in the third quarter with a penalty corner goal from Tom McKinlay, restoring their two-goal cushion.

Zamler completed his hat-trick early in the final quarter, ensuring a comfortable lead.

Despite Exeter scoring two late goals, the final score of four-three did not reflect Marlow's dominance.

In contrast, Marlow Women’s first team faced a tough outing in Cerdiff, suffering a heavy defeat.

After an early setback, they fought back but ultimately fell to a seven-one loss.

They will aim to bounce back this weekend with a home fixture against Exeter, while the Men prepare for another challenging away match against table-topping Chichester.

Both second teams enjoyed success, with the Women winning three-nil against Chichester and the Men edging past Sonning with a three-two victory.
