AFC Wimbledon are set to sign Wycombe Wanderers winger James Tilley.
The 27-year-old, who was the Chairboys’ first signing of the summer last year, joined the Adams Park team on a free transfer from the original Dons.
However, despite arriving as a play-off winner, following Wimbledon’s Wembley victory against Walsall in May, he has only played 13 games this season, featuring a total of only 562 minutes.
Six of these appearances have been starts, with only one coming in the league.
He has also scored one goal for the Chairboys, which was a late equaliser in a 2-2 home draw against Reading back in August.

Last week, transfer expert Peter O’Rourke reported that Tilley has garnered the attention of several League One outfits, including his former club, AFC Wimbledon.
Now, it has been confirmed that the winger is set to return to the capital on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Tilley initially played in Wycombe’s first seven matches of the season in all competitions but missed nearly two months of the campaign after suffering a hamstring injury in the club’s 2-0 away win at Wigan Athletic in the League Cup.
He has only played three games since his return in November, with his last outing being in the 4-0 away loss versus Exeter City in the FA Cup at the start of December.
Tilley began his career with Brighton & Hove Albion, scoring once in four first-team appearances, where he had two loan spells at Cork City and Yeovil Town.
He would then leave Sussex for Lincolnshire, as he joined Grimsby Town on a permanent deal in January 2021. He spent one year with the club before heading back down south to Crawley Town, where he spent two and a half years with the League Two outfit.
A transfer to Wimbledon followed in 2023, where he played 101 games across two seasons before joining Wycombe in 2025.
