Michael Duff has hailed MK boss Paul Warne as a "serial winner" and warned Wanderers fans not to be fooled by the league table ahead of Saturday's Buckinghamshire derby.
The Adams Park clash sees bottom side Wycombe take on second-bottom MK, with neither team having recorded a League One victory so far this season.
However, Duff believes both clubs are far better than their current positions suggest and expects a difficult test against a heavily backed MK side.
"The easy thing is for supporters to look and see 23rd against 24th," said the Wycombe head coach.
"I think at Christmas it'll look slightly different."
Despite the North Buckinghamshire team's winless start, Duff was full of praise for Warne, who guided the club back into League One last season in his first full season in charge.
"The manager is a serial winner," he said.
"He's won everywhere he's been [Rotherham United and Derby County], last year included, getting promoted."
Wycombe’s head coach also highlighted the strength of MK's squad, pointing to a number of players with Championship experience.
"Look at the players they've bought," he said.
"You've got Ryan Wintle, Daniel Barlaser, Sam Nombe and Curtis Nelson.
"These are proven Championship players for long periods of time.
“They are a adangerous opposition based on the manager and the players that they've bought.
“They've invested heavily in the football club and I don't think they want to be hanging around in this league for very long.
“I think they've got intentions of doing almost like a Wrexham and going straight through the leagues.
“But we're not in control of that.
“It's modern day football.”
The Wycombe boss believes MK's difficult start to the campaign should also be considered.
"They've played some good teams as well.
“They've had a tough start and we've had a tough start in terms of the teams we've played."
While Wanderers are still searching for their first league win, Duff insists performances have been better than results suggest.
"We haven't won a game yet.
“We've drawn two and lost two, but I think we've been good in two of them, rubbish in one and all right in the other.
"I think we're a few points short."
Duff added: "We won't be going into the game assuming that because we're at home and played well on Tuesday then it'll be an easy game.
"Absolutely not."
There have been 19 matches between Wycombe Wanderers and Milton Keynes.
The Chairboys have won six of those clashes, MK nine, with there being four draws.
The last meeting between the two sides was in August 2023 in the League Cup at Stadium MK, which Wanderers won 2-0 thanks to goals from Chris Forino and Brandan Hanlan.
