Michael Duff believes Jayden Wareham will be an ‘asset’ to the club after he scored on his debut in Wycombe’s 3-3 home draw with Milton Keynes.
The club's record signing came straight into the starting line-up and impressed throughout the thriller in the Buckinghamshire derby, equalising with 17 minutes remaining.
Duff was particularly pleased with the variety Wareham brought to Wanderers' attack.
"I thought Jayden was exactly what we think he'll be," he said.
"He can occupy defenders, run in behind and link play.
"He plays a lot bigger than what he is."
Wareham caused problems throughout the first half and nearly scored before the break when he attempted to lob goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray from distance.
His equaliser, however, was the moment that most pleased his manager.
"The goal is a brilliant finish.
"The movement is the important bit.
"He stays out of the centre-halves' eye line and waits for the moment.
"As soon as the cross comes in, he darts across the front because he's prepared the space beforehand."
Duff also believes the striker gives Wycombe an attacking dimension they have lacked this season.
"We can now play centrally and we can play over the top.
"We've not really had that stretch option.
"When you've got someone running beyond, it allows others to come inside and get involved."
The Wanderers boss expects Wareham's influence to grow as he develops relationships with his teammates.
"He'll only get better the more he plays.
"Once those connections build, he'll be a real asset for us."
