Michael Duff says there were plenty of positives to take from Wycombe Wanderers' dramatic 3-3 draw with MK Dons, despite his frustration at seeing a two-goal lead disappear.
The Wanderers boss felt his side produced one of their most complete performances of the campaign for large periods of the game.
"For more than three quarters of the match I thought we were the better team," he said.
"We had good control and the structure of the team looked really good."
Duff was particularly encouraged by the variety in Wycombe's attacking play.
"We hurt them in different ways.
"We played through them, around them and over them.
"We looked balanced."
Although the Chairboys are still waiting for their first league win of the season, Duff believes the performance provided evidence that his squad is moving in the right direction.
"When we do what we're supposed to do, we look a half-decent team.
"The frustrating thing is that we didn't do it for long enough."
The manager also praised the character shown by his players after falling 3-2 behind.
"The positive is that they could have rolled over at that point.
"They didn't.
"The substitutes came on and affected the game and they kept pushing right until the end."
Duff was also grateful for the reaction of supporters, who applauded the players at full-time despite another disappointing result.
"I thought the supporters were excellent.
"They can see the players are trying and they can see how desperate they are to win."
While results remain elusive, Duff remains confident a breakthrough is not far away.
"If we keep producing performances like that, things will turn.
"We've got to keep going."
