Former England captain Chris Cowdrey presented Beaconsfield skipper Paul Gurnell with the Thames Valley League Trophy at the club’s awards dinner on Friday.

Beaconsfield went through the Division One campaign unbeaten, thanks largely to their bowling attack as they gained promotion back into the Home Counties Premier League.

This was spearheaded by former Pakistan left -arm spinner Shakil Ahmed, who took 62 wickets during the season to win the Ronnie Rutter Cup as the club’s leading wicket-taker.

The club’s leading run scorer was 3rd XI batsman Steve Lynch (club captain) with 629.

The Colt of the Year went to Jeremy Suter, who topped the club’s 2nd XI batting averages.

The Clubman of the Year trophy was won by Martin Watts, for the vast amount of work he has done for the club, in many areas, over many years.
