WANDERERS boss Peter Taylor plans to inflict more misery on Luton Town tomorrow by taking three points off the ailing Hatters.

The Bedfordshire club were docked 30 points at the start of the season for financial irregularities and although Taylor believes the punishment is hitting the wrong people he will put his sympathies to one side for 90 minutes tomorrow.

He said: “Clearly the authorities found something they had to punish but I feel very sorry for the supporters and the people who are involved now.”

Luton have clawed back 23 of those lost points already but still sit rock bottom of the table on minus seven points.

Taylor said: “ I feel really sorry for Mick Harford [manager]. I have got a lot of respect for him. He is a really good football man who has coped with the situation brilliantly. I don’t know how I would manage in his situation. It must be very difficult coming in each day knowing you are starting 30 points behind everyone else.

“But he has got some very good players there on paper and if they get a bit of a run together they could still get out of trouble.”

Taylor’s position is much more rosy.

Last Saturday’s defeat in a five-goal thriller at Aldershot was Blues’ first in the league all season and although it means they can’t now equal John Gorman’s record of 21 unbeaten league games, they are still six points clear at the top of League Two.

Taylor will again be without the injured Chris Zebroski, who has failed to recover from the ankle injury he sustained in the FA Cup defeat at the hands of Eastwood Town.

Wanderers have yet to lose back-to-back games under Taylor’s command and they could be boosted by the return of on-loan Reading striker Simon Church.

The Welsh U21 international has recovered from the broken hand he suffered during a training session with his parent club and could be thrown in at the deep end.

He hasn’t had any full contact training, but he has done all the other fitness work and Taylor is considering including him in his 16-man party for the game.

Taylor could be forced into making a change at the back though.

Centre half Mike Williamson has been playing under the shackles of a slight groin problem and if Blues decide it is holding him back, Leon Johnson will step up from the bench to deputise.
