CHESHAM United boss Andy Leese has told his players they can produce the upset of the FA Trophy by toppling Blue Square Premier League highfliers Crawley Town tomorrow (ko 3pm).

The Meadow Men, who are three divisions below Steve Evans’ full time outfit, have already claimed the cup scalps of Conference South outfits Maidenhead and Weston super-Mare this season and Leese says they are capable of doing it again.

He said: “We are going to have to be at our very best and, if we can do that, we’ve got half a chance.”

Crawley are sitting fifth in the Blue Square Premier Division and Leese is hoping they will have one eye on winning promotion to the Football League.

He said: “I don’t know what Steve Evans will do. If he comes with their full strength XI and their A game then it is going to be very tough for us, but my players love these kind of challenges.

“They have risen to them before and they will need to do it again because Crawley are on a completely different level to any of the sides we’ve faced this season.

“In Jon-Paul Pitman and Thomas Pinault they have two really dangerous players and they have a back four stacked with experience.

“They are fighting to get into the Football League and it shows.

“We will respect them but we cannot be in awe of them.”

Chesham go into the game on the back of an unbeaten 13-match run and they are expecting a 600-plus crowd at The Meadow with 200 coming from Crawley.
