HIGH Wycombe RFC are the team of the moment after running in another five tries on Saturday to take full advantage of Marlow’s 2010 wobbles in South West 1 East.

For much of the season it was Marlow challenging champions-elect Cheltenham at the top of the table, but Chris Sheasby’s outfit have hit the skids.

They were beaten 22-7 on their own turf by Walcot on Saturday, their fourth defeat in five games.

Wycombe have taken full advantage and on Saturday they followed up an eight-try thumping of Oakmeadians with a five-try whitewash of Wallingford to jump above Marlow into second place.

Wycombe were on course for their 12th win in 14 matches after just ten minutes on Saturday.

By then Craig Murray had touched down from a forwards drive and winger Akindiji Akinwale had followed up his four-try display last weekend with another score after a flowing backs move through Jared Thompson, Kieran Mann and Nick Robinson.

Craig Webb’s conversion made it 12-0 and after that it was one-way traffic.

Akinwale crossed again shortly afterwards and chances for further tries before the interval fell to Chris Potts, Mark O’Haire, Webb, Robinson and Richie Blunden.

But it was stuck on 17-0 until the 55th minute, when Murray went over for his second of the afternoon and before the end Potts crossed in the corner to put the seal on a comprehensive victory.

Next weekend they go to Trowbridge and Marlow are at Wallingford, before the two Bucks rivals clash in a potentially make-or-break game.
