MARLOW'S Olympic rowing legend Sir Steve Redgrave had the honour of starting the London Marathon and then donned his running shoes to take on the 26.2 mile course himself.
The five-time gold medallist was one of the official starters and he made it around the course in 4.21.33.
Scott Paget, who was running his fifth marathon in the space of six months, completed the course in 4.53.47.
The 47-year-old, a member of Amersham Swimming Club, was competing in his third different continent since running in Nairobi in October.
Karen Jenkins, running in her first marathon, came home in 4.03.29.
The 27-year-old was 485th in her age group.
Ali Khan, a Metropolitan Police officer from Chesham, missed out on breaking the four-hour mark by just 19 seconds.
